Lab note L-03

Welcome offers by real value

All five offers carry 10x wagering. That sounds like a level field until you turn the multiples into pounds, add the deadlines and apply the caps. This note does that for each casino, with the same assumptions throughout.

The assumptions, stated once

  • Each cash bonus is taken at its maximum, with the deposit needed to reach it. Vegas Mobile Casino doesn't publish the match rate for the later stage of its package, so we use an illustrative £100 bonus there.
  • Free spins are assumed to return exactly their face value. This is a convenience for the arithmetic, not a forecast.
  • Where the stake per spin isn't stated, 10p is assumed.
  • For the average cost of wagering we use a 96% return-to-player, so every £100 of bets costs £4 on average. Individual results swing far above and below that.

Why 10x everywhere? Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has capped wagering requirements on promotions for British customers at 10 times. So the multiple no longer separates offers much; what they apply to, how long you have and what you're allowed to keep still does.

"Average-case bonus left" = (bonus + spin winnings) minus the average cost of the required bets, then limited by any conversion cap. It is not a prediction of what you will withdraw, and it ignores your deposit, which you can lose entirely.

Brand by brand

Luna Casino 100% up to £50 + 50 Free Spins

10 × (£50 bonus + £5 spin winnings) = £550 in 30 days

The bonus and spin winnings are wagered as one pot over 30 days. With £5 as the ceiling and 10% of £55 working out above it, the effective max bet is £5. No conversion cap appears in the significant terms. Of the five, this is the offer where the headline and the maths agree most closely.

Swift Casino 100% up to £25 + 100 Free Spins

10 × (£25 bonus + £10 spin winnings) = £350 in 30 days

Same structure as Luna at a smaller size. The max bet works out at £3.50 (10% of £35), and it shrinks as the bonus balance falls, which catches people out late in a session.

PlayKasino 200 Free Spins

10 × £20 spin winnings = £200 in 30 days

Only the spin winnings are wagered, so the required bets are small: £200 if the spins return their face value. The max bet is £2, 10% of those winnings. The trade-off is the £20 entry price and a single game.

Vegas Mobile Casino Welcome Package up to £1,000 + 100 Free Spins

10 × £100 = £1,000 in 30 days  +  10 × £10 = £100 in 7 days

This is where the headline and the arithmetic part company. However large the later-stage bonus grows, only £50 of it can convert, plus £20 from spins. A £100 illustrative bonus needs £1,000 of bets; a £1,000 bonus would need £10,000, for the same £50 ceiling. Bigger stage-two deposits add playtime, not withdrawable value.

The Online Casino 100% Bonus up to £50 + 20 Free Spins

10 × £50 = £500 in 30 days  +  10 × £2 = £20 in 7 days

Bonus and spins run on separate clocks: 30 days for the bonus, 7 for spin winnings. The bonus conversion cap is £50, which equals the maximum bonus, so for most players it won't bite. Real money is wagered first, so the bonus only comes into play once your deposit has been used.

Reading the numbers

So what's the takeaway? Two things. First, the size of a headline says very little: the largest one here can't convert more bonus money than a £50 match can. Second, the offers that wager bonus and spin winnings together over 30 days are easier to live with than those with a separate 7-day clock, because you're not pushed to play the spin winnings through quickly.

None of this makes a bonus a way to make money. The average cost column is there to show the opposite: wagering is the price of the bonus, and it's paid in expected losses. Set your limits first.
